Cleaning and Protecting Leather Upholstery
Many different types of fabrics can be found in the interior of your vehicle. We’re going to start with walking you through maintaining leather, the most expensive and difficult to clean of the interior fabrics. If your car has a leather interior, you want to be sure you’re doing all you can to maintain it, otherwise, you’ll see the fabric start to crack and wear, diminishing your investment. You can detail your leather interior in the following steps:
Vacuum the seats to remove any debris that could scratch or damage the leather
Brush and wipe down the leather with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or stains. Use a mild soap if necessary, but be careful not to overdo it – you don’t want to leave behind residue that will stain or attract more dirt and stains.
Apply a leather cleaner according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually by spraying onto a soft cloth), then wipe off with another clean cloth until no residue remains on your seat covers or steering wheel (if applicable).
We recommend wearing gloves when applying cleaners and conditioners since these products can irritate sensitive skin if they come into contact with it directly. This isn’t always necessary depending on what kind of ingredients are in your cleaning products.
The first step in maintaining cloth upholstery is, of course, vacuuming it regularly with an attachment that has soft bristles. This will remove dust, dirt, and other debris from deep within the fibers of the fabric. Next, spot-clean any stains or spills with a mild detergent solution or soap-free cleaning products that do not contain bleach or ammonia, as this can lead to discoloration. Rinse well with water afterward.
For tough stains such as grease or oil-based products like ketchup or mustard, try using rubbing alcohol first before applying soap solution to avoid spreading these types of stains further into other areas where they might be harder to remove later. Finally, apply protection regularly to keep your car looking as fresh as possible.
Detailing Carpeting
The first step to keeping your car’s interior looking good is vacuuming. Vacuuming regularly can remove dirt and grime that accumulate in the carpeting, which will help prevent stains from forming. If you have a vehicle with cloth seats, it’s also important to vacuum them regularly, as well.
When it comes time to clean your car’s carpeting, there are several options available: Keeping the interior of your car detailed and clean is essential to maintaining your investment and proper car maintenance in general.
